Weird Science

Weird Science is the second fanvid I created shorty after starting to work on video editing in early 2003. My favorite band from the 80's was Oingo Boingo, and I loved having the opportunity to create a Lost World Video to music that was not a particularly obvious choice.

Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps

I was inspired to make this video after watching the movie 'Strictly Ballroom' for what must be the 20th time. Every once in a while, a song you've heard a zillion times will just hit the right set of neurons, and you find yourself realizing that said music would make a PERFECT vid for..fill in the blank. Watching Strictly Ballroom and hearing Doris Day sing this sultry song, I was suddenly struck by what a perfect Ned and Veronica video it would make. The captions in the vids were an afterthought but were very well received. This video has been an award recipient for 'Best Ned and Veronica Video' two years in a row.

Wonders of the New World

Sometimes you hear a piece of music that elicits such an emotional response that all you can do is wonder how to channel something within yourself to complement it. I so envy singers, dancers and musicians for the intimate relationship they have with music. That's probably the biggest reason I love video editing as much as I do. It gives me the opportunity to channel something creative within myself and mingle it with the music I adore. Wonders of the New World is a compilation piece by John Powell from the soundtrack for the movie "The Road to El Dorado". The score is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard, and this particular song ranks as one of my all time favorites.

Blaze of Glory

The part of video making that I detest is the capturing of clips...a process that can take hours or days depending on the length of the project. A smarter woman would keep a clip library, but I never claimed to be particularly intelligent. Anyway, since capturing can be such a pain in the 'you know what', the idea of making a video from just one episode of a show can be very tempting. The lazy part of me loves the idea of limiting my searching to just 45 minutes of footage instead of several seasons worth. Blaze of Glory was born out of one of those lazy/creative moments using the wonderfully evil 'Johnny Ringo' and the TLW episode 'Dead Man's Hill'.

Book of Days

When my good friend Cyn told me that she wanted a Roxton/Marguerite video for her birthday, I fretted for months over the right music to use. Book of Days, by Enya, was actually my third choice for music after completely scrubbing two other possibilities. Once the right song was finally in place, the rest of the video came together pretty quickly and was finished in time for Cyn's birthday. This video won 'Best Marguerite and Roxton Video' at the 2006 Lost World Convention..and all because my evil twin wanted a video for her birthday. :)

Season 1 - Gothic Power - By Ryalin and Fraser

In May of 2004 I flew out to North Carolina to spend a couple of days with the amazingly talented Fraser. I credit her for inspiring my own interest in both fanfiction and fanvids. Anyway, rather then sightseeing, we decided to work on a video project together. I had discovered a wonderful piece of music called 'Gothic Power' and had decided that due to it's short length (a little over a minute), it would make a perfect 'Lost World Trailer'. We decided to focus on season 1, and our goal was to create a short video that might capture the essence of TLW's season 1 and stir some excitement the same way that movie trailers can often have you counting the days till a film's release. After the success of 'Gothic Power', we decided to continue the tradition by creating trailers for seasons 2 and 3. Fraser took the 2nd season while I focused on season 3. Though there was a fairly long delay, all 3 season trailers were eventually completed, and Fraser has graciously given me permission to host her season 2 trailer on this site.
